Ghislain Poirier
(Bounce Le Gros' - Montreal)
Ghislain Poirier creates some of the most out of control ragga style
riddims. His colabs with MC’s and DJ’s from across the globe
have included remixes for Lady Sovereign (Def Jam), and DJ /rupture (Tigerbeat6),
and beats for MC Beans (Warp), as well as Parisian heavy weights TTC
(Big Dada) among others. Critical acclaim, has garnered him attention
from publications such as pitchforkmedia.com and XLR8R Magazine. He also
recorded solo material for labels like Chocolate Industries and Shockout
and his own Rebondir label.
Poirier’s successful monthly DJ night in Montreal, ‘Bounce
le Gros,’ is an evening that features what Poirier describes as “Bass
and no attitude, Gros sound, Gros Beat, Gros Move, Bounce le Gross”.
Poirier’s night of genre mashing provides enough bass to fill the
place, attracting a mixed crowd that appreciate his dirty style, tasty
beats and eclectic flare. He and his guests spin music that flows effortlessly
between global hip hop, grime, baile beats, booty bass, crunk, Baltimore-club
and much more. Keep your ears open, your feet in check and be prepared
to Bounce!

Herald: Marketing stunt duo to unveil legit show
They caused havoc last month - and got themselves arrested - when their guerrilla
marketing stunt for Cartoon Network’s “Aqua Teen Hunger Force” series
was mistaken for a terror threat. Tonight, Peter “Zebbler” Berdovsky
and Sean Stevens will be strictly legit, with a performance of their electronic
visual art at the Linwood in the Fenway.
The two are part of Glitch, a 4-year-old local collective of visual artists “primarily
interested in the art and science of live video,” Berdovsky told the Herald
yesterday. In tonight’s show, the duo will join acclaimed bass master DJ
Ghislain Poirier of Montreal and local Beat Research mixers C and Flack. Their
plan: make psychedelic sights to match the big-beat sound, by capturing crowd
reaction on video, feeding it through a video mixer and projecting it onto three
large screens... More

The Download: Mooninite Dance Nights! Zebbler's Club Debut...
DJ-C and DJ Flack have been shredding the fringes of experimental party
music at the E-Room every Monday night, building towards something bigger.
Now we know what that something is. Their inaugural "BOUNCEMENT" night
-- named for a DJ-C mixtape that pretty much changed our lives -- is
going down March 30 at . . . the Linwood? THE LINWOOD?! This is such a
good idea... More
