A Stack Of Dusty Records is a co-owner of Mystery Train Records in Gloucester, MA. He will be playing a set of disco, jazz, funk, and whatever else catches his attention - pulling records from his travels as well as the extensive selection at the storefront. His set should definitely help you maintain that Positive Mental Attitude during these winter days.

Josh Byrnes (Elevator Man) has been a DJ at clubs in NYC and beyond for 20 years. Expect to hear bass, techno, breakbeat, dubstep, real electro.... Having collected records since the dawn of rap and having DJed since the dawn of rave, he knows the history of underground beats, and how to rock a party correct.

This week Beat Research presents Trizlam, operating ‘El Fidel’ Picó direct from Soledad Atlantico— Barranquilla Colombia for an evening of Champeta, Cumbia, Soukous, Dancehall, and more. Representing Dorchester (to the fullest), Trizlam specializes in vintage sounds from three hundred and sixty five degrees of the vinyl Atlantic. When not scouring small towns for records, he can be found deejaying in Boston and New York, and keeping a very informative and entertaing music blog called Rough Luxury.

As an added bonus he will be bringing along his very own custom [mini] Colombian soundsystem box!

Ekip Ritual

Initially conceived in São Paulo, Brazil in the fall of 2010, Ekip Ritual merges sound system culture, Afro-Brazilian rhythms, and pop music sensibilities into an animated blend of electronic music perhaps best tagged as global bass. The duo's resident vocalist, Marietta Vital, aka Massarock, is a veteran of the Brazilian reggae and alternative music scenes, having worked with the likes of DJ Magrão, Eder "O" Rocha, Brother Culture, and Adrian Sherwood. Ekip's production duties lie in the hands of emerging American electronic musician and percussionist Kiddid, a requisite "nordestino" who cut his teeth playing percussion for various ensembles throughout the northeastern US and Canada.

At once propulsive, catchy, and eccentric, Ekip Ritual playfully balance childlike wit with a digital grit frequently found occupying the contemporary sonic landscape.

Grim Trigger is a production/DJ duo consisting of Joe Reutt and Brendan McCarthy. It's all about the beats and bass, and all genres are fair game as long as it keeps the kids dancing. Equally influenced by new wave and hip-hop as dubstep and electro, they love to keep the dancefloor guessing. Expect some 80's classics along with the freshest of tunes, and some Grim Trigger originals.
